The US Cover Revealed!

I know already posted something today, and I should probably wait for tomorrow, but I thought this was too cool to just sit on for no reason.

Behold the US cover:

Not only is this cover awesome, but it might make people think I have legible handwriting. On the actual dustjacket (yes, it will be hardcover) the whole thing will be a matte finish, except for the blood drops which will be embossed and glossy. Awesome.

If you’re going to WorldCon, I will have actual jacket proofs to show off; I don’t have them yet, so I’m afraid I don’t know what the spine and back look like. For all I know they’ll look like an actual spine and back; this is a book about corpses, after all. Whatever it looks like, I’m very excited.

It’s not a bad cover, but I think the German one is superior. But embossed blood drops? THAT is sweet.

  2. Titus says:

Shiny. The claws on the UK edition were pretty sweet, but embossed blood is about as cool as you can get.

  3. Dawn says:

It is simple, but striking. I like it too.

  4. Can’t beat embossed blood really. Swee-eeet :)

I think this cover is the most accurate when considering the entire flavor of the book. You get a sense of a school aged protagonist.

I love my british cover, but this cover has the same feeling of restrained horror, instead of a gore fest that you anticipate when you see the UK one.

  6. Steve D says:

this feels more YA to me, but it works. I still prefer the German cover over all.

Creepy! That is a Great cover!

  8. Callisto says:

Big fan of the US cover. Like Jake said about it feeling more “school aged protagonist”-y, I think this one fits the whole feel of the book better. Plus I’m a big fan of blood spatters. >_> <_<

  9. Martha says:

Can I see the cover when you bring the kids down?

  10. Debbie says:

It’s a great cover, Dan. And in hardcover. Congrats!

*whistles* Nice. I may just have to get a copy of this one, too. I collect hardcovers of good books, anyway–they look much nicer on my “autographed” shelf. :)

Cool cover! I am one of the elite few to have the red one and to have read it already. Gross. And wonderful. Hope US sales go crazy.

  13. jake says:

So is that your handwriting on the cover?

  14. Arlene says:

Awwwwwwwwww! Completely rad cover, Dan! Love it!
