Be still my beating heart

So it turns out I have a wikipedia entry. I am technically not allowed to expand this myself, due to the wikipedia rules, but if any of you feel like adding anything (critical response, links to publisher catalogs, etc.) please feel free.

Sweet! I’ve never added anything to Wikipedia, so I wouldn’t know where to start, but that’s awesome!

  2. Congrats!

Don’t know if this is true or not, but I once heard that OSC went into his wikipedia entry and fixed the mistakes. Less than five minutes later, someone else had gone in and edited his changes back to the original.

  3. Patty Wells says:

I went in and fixed your birthdate.

  4. Raethe says:

You know you’ve made it when you have your own Wikipedia entry.

  5. Titus says:

Well, at least hook us up with some more info for your page. In the ID column the following fields are notably missing:

    Image+Caption
Birth Name (if not really only 8 letters)
    Period, Subject, and Movement
    Influences
    Signature
and of course (and most importantly, for a horror author) Death Date and Place (with setting and circumstances, if possible)

I’m thinking that some sort of reference to WE and TWG, if not your connections to other published authors, may be in order. Then again, I am entirely ignorant when it comes to the rules of Wikipedia. All I have ever done there is line+copy editing. :/

Image: I’ve got one on my bio here you can use.
Birth name: Daniel Andrew Wells, though my books are just published under Dan Wells
    Period, Subject, and Movement: what?
Influences: I’ve written several blog posts about this
Signature: if by this they mean “identifying characteristics” then…first person descent into madness? I don’t know.
Death Date and Place: May 18, 2134, in a shuttle between Mars and Europa I am discovered with 47 distinct stab wounds. It turns out I was stabbed once by every single person on the shuttle–who knew?

  7. Arlene says:

Wow, Dan. That’s a creepy picture. I like you better with your glasses. And smiling.

  8. Titus says:

Signature, as in a scan of your personal signature. The thing that you use to make your books/peoples’ body parts worth more.

    FOR POSTERITY!

  9. admin says:

If you want my signature, buy my book and get me to sign it. Easy.

  10. Titus says:

Touché, monsieur Les Puits. Je le farai.

  11. Raethe says:

    Haha, indeed.

I’ll just pop over to Utah and do that then. Better start walking now. :P

  12. Arlene says:

What does ‘Je le farai’ mean? Just curious.

  13. Titus says:

“I will do so” is a fair translation. I spelled “ferai” wrong. :/

  14. Arlene says:

That would be why I couldn’t find a translation. :)

  15. Arlene says:

Hey, Dan, are you going to be around in June? I’m going to be in Utah during the second week of June and I’d love for you to sign my copy. So, any signings planned or public appearances of any kind?

  16. admin says:

I’ll be out of town for most of June, actually, thanks to the Stoker conference in LA and two family vacations. I will be at CONduit, though, if you can get your book there.

  17. Arlene says:

    Aw! Snap!
